About three days before I rotated I was asked to participate in a recon of the Old Baldy/Pork Chop Hill area . This was that recon. Note that the Columbians were represented in the action. Also note that this area was below the ridge- line so it was out of direct observation by the Chinese. From the top of the hill at the left was an open view of Old Baldy which was in the hands of the Chinese. Pork Chop was still ours but in three days the Chinese would attack in force to take Pork Chop. At this time the 2nd Battalion was in blocking position a mile or so south of this point. There is another picture in this presentation showing Old Baldy from a distance.
