This is a view from our company area to our neighbors next door—an MP
company that had permanent duty at Koje. This area was slightly removed
from the prison compounds which were about a mile or so away. Guarding
prisoners was not a bed of roses because we were on constant alert and I
don’t remember seeing a movie or going to an officers’ club while we were
there. We did much better than that up north. We were there from
mid-November, 1952 to mid-January, 1953.
