"Honey wagons" were ever present in all the cities I visited in Japan and Korea. Here is a honey wagon transferring its product from a toilet to the wagon for transport. Once, in Japan, our company was hiking through a farm and the farmer was spreading the "honey" on his crops. We were downwind and we got the full effects of the distinctive odor. The men volunteered to double time to get us out of there. Looking closely at this picture one can see that there is an ammo dump just behind the honey wagon.
