Bob Slaney at Floyd Bennett Naval Air Station, C-46 Air Force Flying Reserve Training Unit, 1953 The one by the tail of the C-46 was taken at Floyd Bennett Naval Air Station in Brooklyn, NY. We were permitted to use part of the base for an Air Force Flying training program. Reserve pilots would come on weekends and fly to keep their ratings up. There were all sorts of surplus aircraft there to use. There were T-6's and T-28's, a C-46 that had flown the "Hump" from India to China in World War II--kind of a flying junk yard the Air Force had.
